Prince Charles may have once claimed that nanotechnology threatened the very existence of life on this planet, but the reality is a lot more prosaic.
For instead of the virus-toting microscopic robots of HRH’s fevered imagination, we actually have stain-resistant ties, scratch-resistance paint and pong-defeating trainer tamers instead.
To prove the point the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies has compiled a list of 101 products that use nanotech in some way, with organic light emitting diode (OLED) TVs, PC processors and, ahem, chocolate-flavoured chewing gum also on offer.
I wonder if the Prince would consider selling the gum as part of his Duchy Originals brand?
