Apple has unveiled a stunningly small version of its already tiny iPod shuffle – and it packs in some neat new features as well.

Measuring just 17.5mm (w) x 45.2mm (h) x 7.8mm (d), the 3G iPod shuffle now ’significantly smaller’ than an AA battery and yet can hold up to 1,000 songs. All the controls that were on the face of the previous version have now been moved to the headphone cord.

The best new feature though is VoiceOver – which serves up artist, song title, playlist names and other info – all at the touch of a button.

The new 3G iPod shuffle is available in silver or black from the UK Apple Store for just £59.
